My healthcare career began as a private caregiver for a very nice lady in downtown Chicago. Shortly after passing the nursing boards in 1993, I worked at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center as a Medical-Surgical-Telemetry Nurse for 5 years. During that time, I met a nurse who was performing Utilization Review in my unit. That chance encounter led to my working part-time as a UR Nurse and eventually finding my niche in Case Management. Aside from working in the hospital, then with a managed care company, I have also dabbled in Home Health Nursing for 3 years and Life Insurance Nursing for a year. Although my Degree in Medical Informatics did not lead to a career as a Nurse Clinical Analyst , the knowledge I have learned lead to a leadership role in Case Management and now as a Health Care Executive.
